Simply follow our on-line booking process. We are a growing business and if we don't have your preferred wheel option in stock- let us know and we can talk to you about other alternatives or arrange another set from the manufacturer
We will ship out your wheels the Monday or Tuesday before your weekend event. All you need to do is post the wheels back to us on the following Monday or Tuesday. The wheels arrive in a secure box that can always be flat packed if you need to travel and re-used for the return postal trip.
If you're Sydney based we can arrange for the wheels to be picked up at an authorised bike shop.
Your wheels arrive with tyres, cluster (cassette) and skewers- All you need to do is pump up the tyres to recommended pressure and put into your bike. Make sure you have a short ride changing gears on the wheels before race day to make check everything is working ok and you feel confident to break and accelerate on the wheels.
We offer our wheels for hire with or without insurance. Accidents do happen, crashes and large potholes can come out of no-where and this is where insurance DOES become vital! We recommend insurance otherwise you could be out of pocket for the cost of a new wheel or two!
Punctures are covered by us- riding a wheel home flat and ruining the rim is not!
Thankfully the days of carrying and changing a spare tubular are gone. All Tubular bookings are supplied with a canister of Vittoria PitStop(see picture)
In the event of a punture, simply insert the canister onto your value like a CO2 bulb and the tyre will inflate to 80PSI along with a Latex goo that seals the punture. Easy!
The canister is small enough to be easily taped under your saddle and out of the way.
The short answer is no. All our Clincher wheels have aluminium braking surfaces which do not need special brake pads. If you book Tubular wheels- we recommend using brake pads specifically designed for carbon braking surfaces but this is only optional. Pads designed for carbon rims do not heat up like normal brake pads and do stop better in wet conditons.
Traditionally tubulars have been used for race wheels and clinchers often recommended for training, though ultimately the final decision should be based on your preference, comfort level and confidence level in changing a potential puncture. Clinchers are lot lighter and faster then they we're 10 years ago and now days many people feel they are just as fast.
Remember a tubular is glued on and we now supply Vittoria Pit Stop canisters with all Tubular hires.
Lighter weight riders (less than 72kg) may not receive the full advantages of deeper wheels in strong crosswinds (such as the 808's or 1080's and Discs). We recommend 404's or 606 combo's for the lighter rider.
So unless you can power through the wind, look for wheels that present the best aero advantage that you can comfortably ride- we can always recommend what you're after!
Training on less aerodynamic wheels (your general spoked wheels) will give you a boost on race day. Of course we offer only the best aero-wheels for you to hire!
As per the Zipp website www.zipp.com
Starting with a standard aluminium box section rim as baseline, and assuming an output of 300 watts, your time savings will be:
404 front + 404 rear = 58-60 seconds/hour, i.e. savings of almost a minute
404 front + 808 rear = 68 seconds/hour
808 front + 808 rear = 80 seconds/hour 808 front + rear 900 disc = 92 seconds/hour
808 front + sub9 rear = 120 seconds/hour
808 front + 1080 rear = 128 seconds/hour
1080 front + 1080 rear = 144 seconds/hour
Slower riders may appreciate greater time savings as you will be riding for a longer time!
We can recommend the best possible combination for your height, weight, skill level and event!
Time and watt savings over 40K are calculated using a top-selling aluminum race wheel as the baseline and assuming an output of 300 watts. All numbers are calculated at a 10° relative wind angle at 30 mph with Fabian Cancellara on Cervelo P3 pedaling at 300 watts. All tests were conducted using Team CSC Vittoria tires (Zipp Tangente Tires can save an additional 3-9 seconds or 1-3 watts). Numbers are based on rider on bike data - not wheel-only data. Note: If you are going slower, the total time and watt savings are greater as you will be riding for a longer time.
Aerodynamics (deeper wheels) always trumps weight unless you are climbing, require multiple accelerations (crits/ circuit races) or heavy crosswinds which can present a problem. The front wheel is the most important for obtaining aero-advantage. A rear wheel will contribute 75% of what the front delivers. So always select the most aero wheel you can comfortably handle.
Yes, we do. We offer single(usually rear) wheels on their own at 3/4 the price of a full booking. Please email us to arrange a Promo code before your ready to book.
